As of 12-1-08, the Procedural Safeguards Notice now reflects changes in the law regarding a parent's right to revoke special education or related services. Please attach the updated Notice that appears on the Interactive Forms Page. Special education helps children with special needs reach maximum potential. Students may be identified as needing special education when a multidisciplinary evaluation determines that a student has a disability or meets the criteria for gifted ability and also needs specially designed instruction. Special instruction is provided to eligible children who need:
Learning Support and Emotional Support programs are offered in every comprehensive middle and secondary school. In addition, all middle and secondary magnet schools provide Learning Support/Emotional Support programs for their students. Learning Support programs continue to be available in every elementary school. Other support programs and services such as Sensory Support, Life Skills Support and Emotional Support are available regionally for students.
