School Information


Pittsburgh Allegheny 6-8 is a Traditional Academy magnet school located in Pittsburgh's North Side community. Parents must apply, in person, during Preferred or General Magnet Registration periods.

Pittsburgh Allegheny emphasizes academic achievement, structure, discipline, character development and community responsibility. The instructional program is designed around the District's comprehensive curriculum for grades 6-8.

Enrollment information is updated on the first day of each month. Enrollment figures may change based on student transfers and new registrations. At the beginning of the school year, enrollment data may be less accurate until the official state recognized membership date (20 days after the start of school).

Quick Facts:

  • A full-school Traditional Academy magnet open to all students by application; preference given to Pittsburgh Allegheny K-5 and Pittsburgh Dilworth students; siblings of Allegheny students; and residents of the North/Central area.
  • A variety of extracurricular activities offered, including interscholastic athletics, intramural sports, Children’s Museum Program (Youth Alive), Student Council, Craft Club, Yearbook Club, Book Club, Chess Club, and Step Team.
  • Extended Day Tutoring Program.
  • Part of the “HEALTH” initiative sponsored by UPMC and the University of Pittsburgh to decrease pediatric obesity and related factors for Type 2 diabetes.
  • Member of Three Rivers Chapter of National Junior Honor Society.
