School Information

Pittsburgh CAPA 6-12 l is a Creative & Performing Arts magnet school located in Pittsburgh's downtown Cultural District. Parents must apply, in person, during the General Magnet Registration period. Acceptance is based upon completion of a successful audition or presentation of an acceptable portfolio.
CAPA offers a comprehensive academic curriculum and intensive pre-professional training in the arts.

Enrollment information is updated on the first day of each month. Enrollment figures may change based on student transfers and new registrations. At the beginning of the school year, enrollment data may be less accurate until the official state recognized membership date (20 days after the start of school).

  • Complete range of studies including mainstream, Pittsburgh Scholars Program (PSP), and Centers for Advanced Study (CAS) along with activities like National Honor Society, Yearbook, Newspaper, Student Council and Ski Club.
  • Enrolls 500+ full-time students majoring in Dance, Instrumental and Vocal Music, Literary Arts, Theatre, and Visual Arts.
  • World-class facility that includes a 400-seat auditorium, black box theatre, art gallery, media arts center, fitness center, computer labs, and special rehearsal spaces for all departments.
  • Location allows students to learn their crafts in the heart of Pittsburgh�s cultural district and collaborate with working artists from across the region, state, and country.
