School Information

Pittsburgh Northview PreK-5 is one of the District's eight Accelerated Learning Academies. It is located in Pittsburgh's Northview Heights community.

The Accelerated Learning Academy model includes a partnership with the America's Choice School Design, additional instructional time (extended school day and school year) and frequent monitoring of individual student progress.

Pittsburgh Northview PreK-5 offers a structured learning environment, an enhanced research-based curriculum, and the strategic implementation of best practices to meet the varying needs of every learner. Our school partners with the America’s Choice School Design Model, a comprehensive, coherent, standards-based reform model which brings together all elements of a sound education and well organized, high-performance school.

More information about school programs, procedures and expectations is available in the School Handbook.

Parent/Family Involvement:

A Parent Engagement Specialist works with parents and community members to ensure that all stakeholders help students to meet their full potential.

We encourage every parent to participate as part of the Parent School Community Council and PTO. The Parent School Community Council is a group of family members, guardians, school staff, and community members created to discuss schoolrelated issues such as student achievement, school safety, and plan for overall school success. The PTO plans activities and helps to raise needed funds for many school activities.

Each month a calendar of events is prepared so parents can be aware of special activities at school. Other notices about special events and field trips are also sent home with students.

Parent conferences are encouraged and can be arranged at any time during the school year. In addition, scheduled conference days will be conducted throughout the school year. Monthly open parent meetings will also be scheduled for the benefit of parents to keep abreast of their child’s achievement.

More information is available in the School Handbook and in the Parent & Family Involvement section of the District website.
