School Information


Pittsburgh Perry High School is a Traditional Academy magnet school located in Pittsburgh's Perry North community. Applications must be submitted, in person, during the General Magnet Registration period.

The Traditional Academy environment requires students to adhere to strict regulations governing behavior, attendance, attire, punctuality and self-control. The instructional program is designed around the District's comprehensive curriculum.

Math and Science is a separate magnet at Pittsburgh Perry Traditional Academy. Students learn scientific research procedures, applicable to math and science subjects. Advanced mathematics through Calculus II and Chemistry II, Physics II, Biology II and Biotechnology are available.

Enrollment information is updated on the first day of each month. Enrollment figures may change based on student transfers and new registrations. At the beginning of the school year, enrollment data may be less accurate until the official state recognized membership date (20 days after the start of school).

Admission requirements:

  • Attendance, discipline, and grades mirror current Board of Education requirements
  • a magnet application
  • Perry magnet contract, signed by the student, parent, and school administrator

Maintain magnet status:

In order to maintain magnet status, a student must:

  • 85% (2009) – 90% (2010) attendance
  • 2.0 grade point average
  • Appropriate behavior, as outlined in the magnet contract and the Pittsburgh Promise

Students who do not comply with the contract will have their magnet status rescinded.
