School Information


Pittsburgh Classical 6-8 is a Classical Academy magnet school located in Pittsburgh's Elliot community. Parents must apply, in person, during the Preferred or General Magnet Registration period.

Pittsburgh Classical offers a rigorous academic program focusing on classical history in a structured, caring environment.The instructional program is designed around the District's comprehensive curriculum for grades 6-8.

Enrollment information is updated on the first day of each month. Enrollment figures may change based on student transfers and new registrations. At the beginning of the school year, enrollment data may be less accurate until the official state recognized membership date (20 days after the start of school).

  • Interdisciplinary units organized around ancient civilizations: Egyptians, Greeks and Romans in grade six, Middle Ages and Renaissance in grade seven and U.S. History in grade eight.
  • Community of Caring character education program.
  • Partnership with the Society for Contemporary Craft focusing on visual arts to enhance student learning.
  • Physical education program includes a strong swimming component.
  • Variety of activities, including National Junior Honor Society, homework helpers, Think-A-Thon, instrumental band and strings, newspaper, interscholastic and intramural sports, dance club and cheerleading.
