Policy Manual Committee

The Pittsburgh Board of Public Education, as the policy-making body for the District, is holding policy workshops as a part of its comprehensive review of District policies. In addition to completing the first comprehensive review of its policies since 1990, the Board intends to revise the composition and format of its policy manual in an effort to create a more user-friendly document accessible to schools and families.

The current policy manual has nine sections that include more than 1,000 policies. Over the next couple of years the Board’s Policy Committee will be making revisions to each section of the current policy manual and presenting these revisions in separate sections to the full Board at a Board Policy Workshop. Any revisions to Board policy require a Board vote. The community is invited to view the revisions to the Board’s Policy Manual.
