Our vision is for all students to have the opportunity to engage in high-quality programs that support their academics, expand their interests, and are exciting and fun! High quality programs have an important role in helping students become “Promise-Ready” – being eligible for The Pittsburgh Promise®.
With the incredible gift and opportunity of the Pittsburgh Promise, Pittsburgh Public Schools has set an ambitious goal – to prepare all students to graduate from college or complete a workforce certification program.
In order to achieve this goal, Pittsburgh Public Schools believes that it needs to effectively engage the entire community in deliberately preparing our students for life after high school throughout their Pittsburgh Public Schools educational experience. We have identified partnerships with non-profit organizations, after school programs, museums, social service agencies, community organizations, faith-based organizations and many other types of organizations that provide supports and opportunities to students as a key part of the District's work.
There is an application process for after school programs to become official Pittsburgh Public Schools partners. The application is for organizations serving Pittsburgh Public Schools students during out-of-school time. The partnership is non-monetary. The partnership has many benefits for Pittsburgh Public Schools and for the after and out of-school time programs – including scaling after-school opportunities, matching schools and students with services, communicating on key issues and initiatives affecting Pittsburgh Public Schools and after-school partners, and exchanging student information (with parental consent).
