What is Early College High School (ECHS)?
Early College High School is the only program offered by Pittsburgh Public Schools (PPS) that provides high school students the opportunity to earn both their High School Diploma and Associate of Arts Degree (AA) at absolutely no cost to the student and/or their parent/guardian.
 
What Students Are Eligible To Apply?
Incoming 9th Graders are eligible to apply. 
 
Which College Will Students Receive their Associates of Arts Degree From?
Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) 
 
How Many College Credit Hours do Students Need To Complete To Earn their AA Degree? 
Students must complete a minimum of 60 college credit hours.
 
Note: Students may earn more than the minimum credit hours while in the ECHS program
 
Will Students Have To Take Additional Classes While in The Program?
No. Students take courses that will count towards both their college credit courses and their PPS required courses.
 
How Do Students Apply? 
During the official application period, which starts the 1st week of July, students need to complete the ECHS online application.
 
 
Where is the Program Held?
Currently, the program is Held at University Preparatory School at Margaret Milliones.
