State of the DistrictState of the District Collage

For the first time, in 2012, Pittsburgh Public Schools held a State of the District event, which was designed to broaden community understanding of the challenges and opportunities that the District faces.

The conversation was focused on finances, equity, achievement, effectiveness and satisfaction. By sharing the latest information on those critical areas of the District’s work, the goal was to build energy and cooperation in support of accelerating student achievement and to provide a factual basis for a thoughtful envisioning process.

We know that we will get further faster in terms of reaching our District goals if we work together with our community members to tackle our challenges. However, we know that to most effectively engage our staff and our community members, we must first ensure everyone is starting with the same level of understanding of the issues and opportunities at hand.
