Taylor Allderdice High School, also referred to as “Pittsburgh Allderdice,” is a public high school located in the Squirrel Hill neighborhood of Pittsburgh, PA. The school opened in 1927 and was named for industrialist and Squirrel Hill resident Taylor Allderdice, who was a member of the city's first school board and president of the National Tube Company, which was a subsidiary of the U.S. Steel Corporation
The Alumni and Friends of Taylor Allderdice High School's Annual Hall of Fame
Taylor Allderdice High School is set to recognize distinguished alumni and educators who are leaving their mark on the world. This year, alumni Edna Campbell, Sheldon Elsen, Indira Lakshmanan, Kathleen Marshall, and Eddie Rosenstein, along with former faculty member Virginia Lewis, will be welcomed into the Taylor Allderdice Hall of Fame.
- Edna Campbell played for the WNBA for 7 years. While playing, Ms. Campbell also fought a successful battle with breast cancer and became an inspiration for thousands.
• Sheldon Elsen, a Harvard-trained lawyer, has authored many law review articles covering topics such as Miranda rights, securities and corporate litigation, and the New York fiscal crisis.
• Indira Lakshmanan has covered global and domestic issues for many news organizations, including NPR, Bloomberg, the Boston Globe and POLITICO Magazine.
• Kathleen Marshall is a Tony Award-winning choreographer and director known for her work on Broadway, including productions of Grease, Pajama Game, and Cole Porter’s Anything Goes.
• Eddie Rosenstein is a documentary film maker and is known for works such as The Right to Marry, a feature length documentary about the same sex marriage movement.
• Virginia Lewis was a beloved choir teacher. Although she has passed away, her legacy lives on with the students she touched.
The Hall of Fame Ceremony will take place on Thursday April 27th at 7:00 pm in the Allderdice auditorium. The unveiling of permanent wall plaques representing each of the inductees and a reception will follow the induction ceremony. The public is welcome to attend; no reservations are required.
