In Pittsburgh Public Schools we place a priority on bringing a lens of
equity to all of the work we do. One of our primary goals is to
eliminate racial disparities. As we engage in this work it is essential
that we place our students at the center of the conversations we have.
Based on this priority we have begun to focus on the elevation of
student voice throughout our organization. To better serve our students
we must listen to them share their expertise regarding their lived
experiences in our classrooms and schools. We must ask ourselves the
question, what must I do to hear a perspective that is different from my
own. This session
will offer a platform for the voices of some of our young Black male
scholars to speak on their needs at the classroom and system level. We
will focus on how student voice can and should play a central role in
professional learning for educators and can support our collective
efforts toward more equitable outcomes. Register Today!
